Singer-songwriter Kyler England is no stranger to electronic music. Her 2011 album, Electric Hum found her exploring a landscape equal parts organic and electronic, featuring synths and programmed drums contrasting against piano and acoustic guitar. She won the International Songwriting Competition Electronica category with her song from Electric Hum, “We Rise Like Smoke.” England also collaborated with many notable DJs around the world over the past few years, including Alexander Popov, Miss Nine, Cosmic Gate, Blizzard and Yuri Kane, First State, Sunlounger and Tenishia, making significant waves in the EDM world.
But probably most notable and exciting of all of England’s electronic endeavors is her new collaboration “Take Me” with one of EDM’s best known, loved and legendary DJs, Tiesto. Revealed in an exclusive premiere on Billboard, “It’s housey but has this trance-y vocal in it, and the melody is great. It’s definitely the perfect definition of what I stand for at the moment — from the past until now” Tiesto says of “Take Me.” “I loved working with Kyler. She has an amazing voice and is a great songwriter.”
The single “Take Me” is out on Tiesto’s label, Musical Freedom, on May 15th, 2013 and will also appear on his Club Life Vol 3 – Stockholm, due out June 25th.
If England’s unique and compelling voice sounds familiar, it is probably because her songs have appeared in numerous TV shows (Grey’s Anatomy, Vampire Diaries, Private Practice, One Tree Hill, Switched At Birth, Ghost Whisperer, Army Wives) and on film (“The Lucky Ones”) and she has opened for the likes of Sting, Annie Lennox, Avril Lavigne and Kelly Clarkson. England is also 1/4 of beloved LA band, The Rescues who recently released their new record, 2013’s Blah Blah Love and War.
Though England continues to work in the electronic world, she also stays true to her roots. Last year England released The Spare Key Sessions EP, a collection of stripped-down acoustic versions of Electric Hum tracks, which was featured as “New & Noteworthy” on iTunes.
